Drums
Rachel Fuhrer is an Austin, TX based drummer currently playing with Tim Kile and the Vines of Love, Ram Vela and the Easy Targets, Citizen Banned Radio and Many Birthdays. In past years, Rachel was the touring drummer for Ben Kweller as well as the artist Christeene (featuring Peter Stopschinski and Roddy Bottum of Faith No More). Recent highlights have included performing on the Austin City Limits Miller Lite Stage with Ben Kweller as well as a sold-out show at London’s historic Barbican Theater with Christeene. In addition to extensive US touring with Ben Kweller, work with Ben also included filming the music video “Careless” with LA director Steve Hanft (Beck, Hank Williams III).
Rachel has formerly toured, played drums and/or recorded for Ume (Dangerbird Records, Modern Outsider), Eric McFadden (Eric Burden, P Funk All Stars), Cory Glover (Living Colour), and many more. She’s also played drums for many local bands and artists that have helped define the Austin rock sound such as Quiet Company, Moving Panoramas, Tina Piranha, Poon, The Electronic Planet Ensemble feat. David Jewel, The Invincible Czars, Panoramic Voices, We’ll Go Machete and more. She has preformed at many festivals including the Rock En Sein Festival in Paris, France, SXSW, Austin City Limits, Fun, Fun, Fun and many more. Rachel has performed at the Austin Music Hall as direct support for bands like Wu-Tang Clan and Erykah Badu, and has opened for Blondie, TV on the Radio, Janes Addiction, Cage the Elephant, Smashing Pumpkins, Helmet, the Toadies and many more.
Rachel also enjoys being involved in theater, orchestra, ensemble, and contemporary avant-garde productions. Work in this field has included countless performances at the Vortex theater, Performances at Mary Moody Theater including runs of Caberet and Violet, performances for NMASS, Church of the Friendly Ghost and more.
Rachel is an official Gretsch Drums, Vater drumsticks, Soultone Cymbals and Porter and Davies artist. She has been featured in Modern Drummer magazine, Rolling Stone magazine, Tom Tom magazine, and Drum! magazine as well as appeared on No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain and Last Call with Carson Daily.
When Rachel isn’t touring she enjoys a full roster of private students as well as coaching rock groups. Rachel is an alum of Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.
